Below, how to record a Sun transit (just a 5800K heat source detection)
The first trial (20051026) with no more used standard
equipment ... + Satellite finder ! |
TV is blank (or Satellite TV shows up or some Sun
signal beeps when properly oriented) |
20051027 : Equatorial mounting on SPDX + webcam (AVI + Satfinder sound) |
Fixation details |
View from the terrasse below |
Detail of CD position (sending sun light on LNB
for centering) Note : The CD if removed gives same signal. |
Test 1 : Sun not centered (bright circle on LNB
external shelter)... |
No Sun signal ! |
Test 2 : Sun centered ... |
Full signal* !! |
Sun REAL transit 20051027 (14min AVI + sound) in DivX 6 - size 14Mo
Mount motors OFF... The Sun 10 Ghz beam enters slowly in the detection field
then moves away !
The audio signal of the Satfinder is the whisling sound heard, its intensity
in concordance with the needle position.
News (20051028) : a signal transit obtained today under light clouds ! looks normal ...
Next steps :
1) Open the Satfinder !
Find the small notch on the back top. |
Pushing up the back with small jewellry screwdriver
to open |
Inside of SatFinder - |
White arrows show where signal will be taken |
2) Add resistors to get the wanted voltage signal (0-1.5V for inteface below)
Just doing it :)
3) Use of an interface to record the signal
I will try the cheap one described at http://radio.meteor.free.fr/electro.html
Signal accepted : 0 - 2V or less.
