My ideas for Sun H alpha Processing

Colorization

I have found that using a simple gradient color image for use in GIMP is a practical solution !
Here is the step by step implementation

Open GIMP for example and load a rather darkened grey scale Sun H alpha image (avoid JPGs !!)
then the palette of color image via the TIFF version linked to the right JPG image below

             

Clic the H alpha image icon under "Layer" to select the signal image ...

Now goto Colors / Map / Sample Colorize !

In case of many other images present on the right size choose the Palette image !

Now click "Get Sample Colors"

Now hit Apply (to original)

Done !
Of course there are cursors in Colorize and a lot of GIMP functions that can be applied to this result ...
When satisfied, Export image file.

Finding the best way to sharpen H alpha images is a long quest :)
