Notes :
With the same 16b images, 2 panos have been made. One (a) with the prominences
lightened via Gamma, one (b) without gamma.
Then in PSP (a) has been loaded in background.
In (b) a selection has
been made with the magic selector on black background with progressivity
1 and tolerance 70.
The selection has been inverted and pasted on (a).
The result is nice prominences and
a contrasted disk !
(gamma for the prominences and disk is possible but not
so nice and the center of the sun spot is also lightened !)

combinaison : Coronado SM90 + PST FP + 1.6x barlow,
then as it wont fit straight, I
used 1 time horizontal drifting to get this panoramic view with the

4/5 of the Sun is visible on the sensor.
Camera turned at 90° from normal, for maximal smoothness of he scan the
motors
are
stopped
during the capture, the Earth provides the vertical drifting and in
about
40s the
whole
Sun
is scanned with
wide top/bottom
margins.
Yes ! In less than a minute the SER file is captured and
ready to be registered with AS!2 an
there
is no painful mosaicing work
to do !!
(and people who do solar Halpha mosaics know of what I am talking about
... a lot of time of efforts with sophisticated softwares)!
PC : i7 950 @ 3.95 GHz, Win7X64, 18GB RAM then recording on a 14GB RAM disk for
fastest speed. After each capture, quasi full RAM disk content is moved on HDD.
Processing : AS!2 2.5.1.7Beta surface extend mode & 60 AP size, Wx, color
GIMP2,
cropping and rotation Irfanview.
Remember that the
Sun is still low in the sky !
To be compared with this equivalent image with the STL11000M

4/5 of the Sun is visible on the sensor (see original B&W single frame
joined).
Camera turned at 90° from normal to use AD @ guiding speed (instead of
DEC moves) for covering the whole Sun with wide margins by vertical drifting
during the exposure which is stopped just after.
PC : i7 950 @ 3.95 GHz, Win7X64, 18GB RAM then recording on a 14GB RAM disk
for fastest speed. After each capture, quasi full RAM disk content is moved
on HDD.
Processing : AS!2 2.5.1.6Beta surface extend mode & 100 AP size, Wx,
color, cropping and rotation GIMP2
Result is superior to PST captures using the same technique. Remember that
the Sun is still very low in the sky ! Better resolution should be achieved
in Summer !
