The Casio QVs for astronomy

Can be used in my opinion : QV-2800UX & QV-3500EX or QV-4000EX

My choice went on the QV-2800UX & QV-2900UX


after 15 days of comparative studies on the www
using the links at bottom of page.

The mains reasons to choose the QV-2800/2900 were :

Optical Zoom 8x (+ num 2x, 4x but with pixellisation)

Swivel 360° lens

Exposures up to 1 minute ( + mode
BULB) with dark frame taken automaticaly

(For QV-2800UX, turn camera on while pressing "info" with large free space in memory
or choose directly from menu for QV-2900UX)
Saving Tiff via
USB and explorer from TIFF dir,
reading/batch converting images with Irfanview (unnecessary with QV-2900UX)

Dicasoft for complete control from PC  via serial port + USB !
webcam
& time-lapse with only as little as 8Mb memory

Correct price ~ 400$ 

6V external compatible with some camescopes (Samsung...) power supply - Check by yourselves !
(Necessary for astro work)
